1) Diploma in Pharmacy:
An UG diploma certificate course in pharmacy studies. The course duration is for 2 years. It includes basic information and every subject related to pharmacy. After completion of D.Pharm, you will be eligible for a diploma certificate. You can find work at drug stores in private or Government hospitals. Age limit for this exam is at least 17 years.
2) Bachelor of Pharmacy:
Another UG course in pharmacy studies. The student must have at least 50% marks with biology or biotechnology to do this course. The course duration is for 4 years. After completion of course, one can practice as a Pharmacist or also apply for the drug inspector or pharmacist government jobs exams.
3) Master of Pharmacy:
After completing B.Pharm you can opt for a job, but if you wish to pursue higher studies, you can go for M.Pharm and pursue a higher degree. M.Pharm is a PG course of 4-years duration after graduation. After course completion you can opt for higher studies, do a company job, become a professor in universities, pharmacist, drug inspector, and many more.
4) Doctor of Pharmacy:
This is a doctorate degree in pharmacy education. There are 2 types in Pharm.D:
a) Pharm.D – It is a course duration of 6 years and the student must have done 12th with Chemistry, Physics as must subjects.
b) Pharm.D (Post Baccalaureate) – The course duration is of 3 years and the student must complete his B.Pharm to become eligible for this course.
5) Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences:
This happens to be the highest degree in this field. You can do this after completion of M.Pharm or must have at least bachelor’s degree in Pharma Sciences, Biology, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Engineering or Medicine.
In India, the colleges where you can earn your pharmacy degree are all registered under the All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) or Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). Under some state jurisdiction, students must be required to qualify national level or state level pharmacy entrance exam to get admission for the desired courses. In some colleges, there is direct admission based on available seats.
